Distinctive Proposals was founded on the idea that there are certain moments in life that stay alive in our memories forever. The day you ask your loved one to marry you is one of them. While traveling, we've heard countless tales of getting down on one knee, some of them ordinary and some of them extraordinary. Certain stories have given the couple recounting them such joy that it moved everyone present. This is a kind of magic that they will never lose, that they can look back on in times good and bad and gain inspiration from. An event so powerful ought to have a guide, we thought: a dream maker of sorts. And that is how the idea was born.

Since we began making people's fantasies a reality, we have been fortunate enough to take part in some of the most unique and moving events in our human experience. How It Works

Creating your ultimate marriage proposal begins with contacting us. In our initial conversation, we'll discuss your special lady, as well as her interests, your interests, and anything else that might go into that amazing moment. Shortly after the call, our creative team will prepare a few idea summaries along with a cost estimate for each one, and send them to you. When you've chosen which idea you'd like brought to life, we draw up a more detailed storyboard of the event and place it in a contract. That's when the fun begins. In the next 2-3 months, we work tirelessly to prepare the proposal of you and your future wife's dreams. Every detail of the proposal is handled by us while you act as producer, approving each step of the event as it is designed.

Prices for proposal experiences - which are fully inclusive of all travel, staffing, and props - begin at $25,000.

  • "When we arrived at our favorite little French restaurant for dinner, I thought it was just an ordinary night. The place was busy, but we lucked out and got the corner table by the window. Just after ordering, I noticed the people at the table next to us, an older couple, standing up. I didn't think much of it. Then, to my surprise, they started singing one of my favorite love songs - just randomly, in the middle of dinner. Suddenly, one by one, every person in the restaurant stood up and joined them in song...and they were all looking at me! Everyone in the place - who I later learned were members of a professional choir - serenaded me for about 2 minutes while I stood there, absolutely transfixed. A trio of brass musicians even popped out of the kitchen to accompany the singers. That's when my man got down on one knee. It was the biggest surprise, and the happiest moment, of my life."
  • "My husband and I have been fans of this one actor since we were dating. On our third date, we went to see a movie he starred in. We derived many inside jokes from that movie. Well, one day about a year after we started dating, he took me to the movies but didn't tell me what we were seeing. To my shock, it was our favorite movie! The theater had brought it back for a special viewing. As if that wasn't weird enough, halfway through, the movie suddenly shut off and the screen said "We interrupt this film for a special presentation." That's when Joel got down on one knee and proposed to me. I was shocked, and after I said yes, in the midst of my amazement and confusion, the lights turned on and my whole family was there. They had been there the whole time in disguise. As if that wasn't enough, one more special guest stood up to introduce himself to me: it was the star of the movie. I have probably told this story a thousand times, and I don't think I'll ever get over it."
  • "Don and I have been together for 4 years. We have always traveled a lot and had many adventures. One of our passions is wine. Recently, he planned us a trip to a famous winery a few hours away in Sonoma county. When we arrived, I was struck by the beauty of the estate. It had been established in the 1920s and the old, stone main house was situated on the top of a hill. When we arrived, an older gentleman approach us and introduced himself as the owner of the winery. I was very surprised and humbled to meet him, but figured it was just a coincidence of fate that we were there at the same time as him. Then, seemingly for no reason at all, he invited us for a private tour. As we walked through the gigantic stone rooms among the barrels where the wine is stored, I was sort of awestruck. He even invited me - no, insisted! - that I stomp on the grapes, just like you read about in books. I indulged him; it was fun! When it was over, he brought us to a beautiful garden in the back that overlooked the entire estate and had us sit on a bench. He told us he wanted to give us a taste of his rarest, most special wine. He poured us a glass and left the bottle on the table, then disappeared. At that point I knew something was up, but Don and I had talked about waiting a few more months before getting engaged, so I wasn't quite sure. When I looked at the bottle, to my shock, it had my and my boyfriend's name on the label, with a drawing of us! There, in the vines, my boyfriend got down on one knee and asked me to be his wife. I am not much of a cryer, but in that moment I was sobbing with happiness. I will never tire of telling this story."
